As blasters become more powerful and engagement distances become greater, the need for accuracy becomes more important.
 
After a lot of experimentation within the community, CAR barrels quickly became the easiest way to give a more stable trajectory to your darts. They do this by imparting spin. A spinning projectile is inherantly more stable and therefore, maintains a more predictable path. CAR barrel devices are perticularly suited to high powered springers and HPA blasters.
 
Note that they are relatively useless in blasters under 140fps and in flywheelers.
